When we love someone, especially our children, it is natural that we only want the best for them. At times, however, we border on wanting to control their lives entirely.

Realize that, once someone reaches a certain level of maturity, he is his own person. He has his own personality. Imposing yourself and your views on him only serves to stifle him and strain the relationship.

Don't be overprotective. Don't stop someone you love from living their lives. True, some things are extremely dangerous and should be avoided. But everything in life has a risk factor - nothing is truly "safe". Accidents happen even at home. Perhaps, at some point, we just have to learn to let our loved ones make their decisions for themselves.
