Compare Carefully
by allinspiration.com
One source of unhappiness in life stems from our constant
comparisons with others. My younger brother is so lucky - I had to
find work to support the family, so I never had the chance to go to
college. Kids these days are so lucky - they have so much good food
and fun entertainment, I never had that in my childhood.
More often than not, however, you are comparing with the wrong
people. People from a different place, or a different time, a
different era. Perhaps if you compared with your peers instead, you
would realize, hey, I had more toys than most of my friends then. And,
hey, among all my childhood buddies, only a couple actually did go to
college, and among the rest of us, I actually have the best-paying job
and most intimate family.
Don't compare yourself with the most beautiful models with the best
bodies. Don't compare your intelligence with the likes of Einstein.
Don't compare your wealth with the richest men on the planet. You will
always come up way short. And you won't be satisfied with what you
have.
Do try to realize that there will always be people better off, and
at the same, many are worse off.
