Accept Your Relationships
by allinspiration.com
It is very common to compare our relationships with the
relationships of other people, and with make-believe relationships in
novels and movies.
Perhaps you have a very pragmatic relationship with your dad, one
more of physical dependence than emotional intimacy. And you envy your
neighbor, who enjoys a close friendship with his dad.
However, at the same time, your friend may be envying your
relationship with your dad, wishing that his dad would also work hard
to bring home the dough, instead of being such a bum.
The point is, every relationship is different and unique.
Comparisons are often quite pointless.
When we compare in this way, always wishing that this could be
better, or that could be more ideal, we become dissatisfied with the
relationships we have. We then fail to enjoy and experience them to
the fullest. Worse still, we allow the relationships to deteriorate
because of our dissatisfaction.
Accept your relationships. They have their plus points. Focus on
them.
